When students recognize their own growth, it fuels their motivation and keeps them excited about learning. I also make it a priority to understand what inspires each student. Whether it is a favorite style, a musical hero, or a personal goal, learning what resonates with them helps me tailor instruction to their needs and interests. Above all, I want every student to feel supported, challenged, and inspired. When students enjoy the process, they develop not only skill but also a lifelong appreciation for music. Read More

My teaching style includes positive reinforcement, making and achieving small measurable goals that lead to big measurable goals, and teaching and instilling correct daily practice methods. I encourage each student to do their best each day and push through the difficult places. When something is too difficult for a student, I break it down into smaller, more understandable pieces, or change tactics to a different subject or piece. I use many resources and try to differentiate activities to keep students engaged and learning. Read More

I never turn down an opportunity to perform, and have played in multiple orchestras, symphonic bands, jazz bands, and marching bands. I spent two of my years in a marching band as the drum major, and continue as the principle clarinet player in both my home orchestra and symphonic band. Read More
