For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. The first lesson i assess the student's ability - whether they can play, read music, and what kind of music they like. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their level. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

In the past I have carefully guided students through the selection of materials that would insure steady, gradual progress. Learning a musical instrument should be a fun and enjoyable experience with a sense of personal satisfaction and fulfillment. I place great emphasis on areas such as theory, harmony, transposition, ear training, sight-reading, improvisation and areas of interest to the student such as musical styles. Whether you aspire to one day play professionally, attend a music school or just play for your own enjoyment, we can set goals together to reach the level you desire. Read More

Since each student learns differently, I utilize a variety of teaching methods. Some students are auditory learners. Some students are visual learners. No matter what instrument I am teaching to a student, due to my years of experience, I have an extensive library of materials, methods, and literature that I can implement into my lessons. Read More
