I have been passionate about music and teaching from a very young age. I began playing the flute at age 10 and eagerly continued, participating in every musical opportunity I had in middle school, high school, and college. In 2010, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Susquehanna University with my Bachelors in Music degree in Music Education with a concentration in flute. My teaching expereince dates back to before I graduated undergraduate school. Since I had a semester to wait for Commencement, I was afforded an opportunity to work as a Teacher assistant, in an Open Classroom Learning Environment. This immediately preceded a very rewarding Student Teaching experience in the rural southern state of North Carolina. During my years of teaching in East Lansing Michigan my band programs continually earned first and second division ratings at festivals. We took trips to Chicago every other year to see the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and to do a workshop at Northwestern University and my students received first and second division ratings at Solo and Ensemble both at the district and state levels. I was a judge for solo and ensemble and band festivals. I am a passionate instructor who loves to inspire others to fall in love with music. I graduated from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts which is where I went for my high school degree, with a concentration in flute. I went to West Virginia University for my Bachelors in Music Industry. For beginning students, I start with the Essential Elements book. If the student has already taken lessons or is in their school band/orchestra, I encourage moving onto the Rubank Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced method books depending on ability. Once a student has proven that they are able to handle it, I will start on solo repertoire.
