I previously served as Principal Oboist of the Wilmington Youth Orchestra and Greensboro Youth Orchestra. As an active chamber musician and Baroque enthusiast, I have been a member of the Anemos Wind Quintet and am currently a member the Three Cornered Hat Piano-Wind Trio, and performed Bach Cantatas working closely with Glenn Seibert and Dr. Dmitri Shteinberg. All of my bands received first division and second division ratings at festivals and my students received first and second division ratings at individual solo and ensemble festivals. As a musician myself, I enjoy the cooperative element of music so I readily have an instrument around that I can play along with the student to help further innate musicianship for all skill levels of instrumentalists. For beginners I enjoy using Standards of Excellence from Kjos publishing or Sound Innovations from Alfred publishing and custom tailor exercises to fit the strengths and challenges of every student I teach. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace.
