For beginning students who have never touched music in their lives (mostly children), I start out with the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements book of their chosen instrument. From there, we learn how to read music, play in time, and play the instrument itself. Once the student feels comfortable with the practices in the book, I move on to introduce solo repertoire to prepare for a recital. I love kids and music and decided to combine the two. Piano lessons from fourth grade through high school furthered my love for instruments. I played flute and piccolo through high school and then graduated with my Bachelors of Instrumental Music Education from Troy in 2005.
