For beginning students who are children, I start with some simple rhythmic concepts and some easy sight reading. I start by assessing where a student is at in terms of skill level and what their intentions are for learning how to play drums/percussion. In middle school, I began performing and teaching music during the summers at Vacation Bible School for children ages 3-10. Throughout high school, as a member of a variety of bands, I performed at a wide array of venues around New England. During this time, I ventured into song writing and musical arrangement.
