All of my students receive custom lessons, written by myself, mixed in with standard lesson books. Since I have always believed that "one size does not necessarily fit all" I have found this to be a better approach to rapidly putting my students at the next level. Being able to read charts in marching percussion and drumset, in particular, will put you in a position of great demand when it comes to begin your professional career. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Kid's Keyboard Course Book #1. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
