I picked up teaching during my second year of college with some help from my mother- a long-time piano teacher. During that time I taught several different students ranging from age 6 to adult on various instruments including piano, guitar, and drums. I've experienced the different learning styles and barriers that come with teaching kids, teens, and adults. In 2011, I graduated from Missouri Western State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. Percussion was my main instrument. In 2017, I graduated from Missouri State University with a BME (Bachelor of Music Education) with an emphasis in percussion. Throughout my time in my undergrad, I have been a part of renowned groups such as Dr. Belva Prather Wind Ensemble and Mr. Jerry Hoovers Pride Band organization. Other groups I have performed with include world famous Michael Burritt in his ensemble in 2015 Missouri Day of Percussion. After teaching myself theory at the age of 4, I received my first musical instruction in 6th grade. At that time I learned to play the flute. This is where my musicianship began to blossom and opportunities were sent my way. Thanks to my love and dedication, I was one of a few placed in special bands. Auditioning & being selected for choruses during this time increased as well. As a result of my hard work, I was offered & accepted the positions at section leader and Drum Majorette in my high school's concert and marching bands & after joining choir my junior year I became lead soloist of the choir.
