Overview:
I have been a musician for as long as I can remember. I first started on violin in 3rd grade and moved to viola, cello, double bass, and recorder all before picking up guitar, bass, drums, and piano. I have been playing guitar since I was 10 (I am 34 now), and piano and drums since I was 14. I am quite often a session musician on recordings or live shows on various instruments. My current musical project is called Astronaut//Cosmonaut and we recently recorded our debut single titled “Shape Shift”.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching in my teens as a way to make a little extra money while playing music. It's a great way to learn from someone else, as everyone has their own unique perspective on their own instruments. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I'm always looking to bring on new students of all ages!
METHODS USED
I prefer to build the foundation of knowledge on how and why something works. I usually begin with some basic theory and then show various techniques from popular works and how this can be applied to original compositions. I also like to employ ear training exercises and sight reading exercises to help with the intellectual side of music and to help any current students in a “band” or Music scholastic program. I feel these tools are necessary to take your skills one step beyond just playing for fun and being able to play in high school, college, or professionally.
LESSON STYLE
I work on a lesson to lesson basis, building upon the previous lesson, gradually adding new and exciting things into the mix, and finally throwing it all together and seeing what needs to be improved upon. I usually begin with some basic theory and then show various techniques from popular works and how this can be applied to original compositions. Keith has been working with my 11 year old son for a few weeks teaching him on his acoustic guitar. He is flexible on dates and times and my son really likes him. He is a great teacher and is helping him learn to read music.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
