Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.
lessons are available in the following areas:

My teaching style prioritizes consistent, daily practice set in a musical context. Weekly lessons keep students active and involved in their drumming education, while assigned practice exercises promote gradual but steady improvement. Assigned practice exercises are designed to improve rudiment execution, hand and foot technique, and musical sensibility. As soon as the student feels comfortable with the instrument and is ready for the challenge, I will start to include play-along tracks or recorded songs in the practice rotation. Read More

The Key Is ENTHUSIASM! Learning an instrument is a challenging and sometimes even painful process so the key to keeping the students engaged is enthusiasm. I like to incorporate fun and practical lessons so the musician learns things that will help them be able to perform faster and more efficiently. I believe in positive reinforcement and encouragement as an instructor so students aren't afraid to mess up or feel tense. Read More

My methods are unique and effective. First I share with my students the history and culture of the instrument. Then I teach how the instrument works, explaining every detail. I use simple exercises that quickly ingrain a foundation for progression. Next I build confidence by playing along in collaboration, while teaching synchronization and tempo. As the student progresses I introduce more exercises that increase skill level. Once ready, we start playing full songs and compositions. Read More

I have been teaching as a side-gig and hobby for almost as long as I've been playing! It started with friends in the neighborhood approaching me for advice on how to get started playing guitar. In my years in the Baltimore/DC area, I took private students for extra income outside of my dayjob. Now in New Orleans after years of grinding as a performing musician, I've increased my roster of students as a rewarding and less stressful way to have a music centered career, primarily with guitar and drums. After I graduated from Roosevelt University I had more time outside of academics to start a teaching practice. In 2011, I worked at Lynn Marcel School of Fine Arts in Hillside, IL. As a drum instructor I helped design a corruculum plan and taught younger students ages 8-14. In 2013 and 2014, I worked at School of Rock in Oark Park, IL teaching drum set, voice, and piano for students of all age groups. Read More
