For beginning percussion students who are children, I typically start with Kennan Wylie's Simple Steps to Successful Beginning Percussion and Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals of playing and reading, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. As far back as I can remember I've always had a fascination with musical instruments and a deep desire to make music. I have taught group percussion to elementary -aged students and worked with a high school band and percussion ensemble.
