Greetings, my name is Brett. I've had a passion for the intricacies of rhythm since I was a boy. As a teen, I began playing drums and progressed at a highly advanced rate. My teachers would assign one page out of a book for the weekly lessons. I'd learn the entire book that same evening. It wasn't long before I attended the FUI Studio Jazz and Performance program. I am able to asses the students current level of capability, understanding, and musical goals and tailor a curriculum to suit the specific needs and desires of the student. In terms of younger students who are first discvovering their interest in music, it is important to develop a basic foundation of understanding in terms of reading, writing, and communication with other musicians through the application of time tested teaching methods forcing the student to apply what they have learned in weekly "missions." For intermediate to advanced players, I'm able to help them to identify and subvert sticking points through the application of music theory, technique, and listening exercises as well as impart knowledge of the inner workings of music business and performance. I find it extremely rewarding to see students enjoy the music they're playing and accomplish more than they ever thought possible. For this reason, I work with students at a pace conducive to their level. Although, I will challenge their ability, it will be done in such a way where the student can see their progress no matter how big or small that may be. I became a professional musician at the age of 16. I've traveled around the world and parts of the US. I started playing Rock and Roll music until I was 25. At that time I decided to get a formal music training with piano and theory. I auditioned and received scholarships in music to Seminole Community College and University of Central Florida.
