I am strongly influenced by Latin American culture and that is why I have been learning all the traditional music from severals countries. I had played in numerous ensembles including: Cambamberos Colombian music ensemble (Brazil),Orquestra de Berimbaus Paraguassu (Brazil), Tambora female South American music (Brazil), Trio Acstico de las Americas (Brazil), Chacombo Afro-peruvian ensemble (LA), CalArts Salsa Band (LA). My teaching style is supportive. I like to help teach a student how to practice as well as how to play. My fondest memories as a student were those where I was learning and listening to music with my teacher. Watching them react and feel the beats is an incredibly informative part of the learning experience. I began my classical training at the age of nine and continued my studies in jazz and world music with a focus on percussion and vibraphone. I have toured and recorded in the US and Europe with many artists in various musical styles. I graduated from Hunter College in New York City with a degree in music. I began studying singing and song leading with my father at age six, piano with my mother at age seven, and guitar with my cousin at age thirteen.
