I like to use a varied method for every individual student. I like to take the first lesson to feel out what they may already know or not know, their personalities, what learning methods may or may not work with them, etc. One thing that I teach to all of my students is music theory, no matter what level they may be at musically. After the first lesson, I put together a lesson plan that will work for the student that will include worksheets, exercises from a book for their instrument that I will pick out, and a piece for them to practice that either I will pick based on their level of playing, or that we pick together. The only styles I don't play or teach (that are popular) are screamo, death metal (no blast beats here), and jazz. I'm good with just about anything else and can always teach the basics from beginner to advanced. Read More
