I have performed on many instruments in venues all over the world for over 30 years. This includes concerts, recitals, exclusive country clubs, corporate events. Much of this work was solo piano, or with various small groups I have put together. I have given private lessons on Piano, Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, and Guitar during this time, which, as I have said, I enjoy very much. Read More

I have taught private clarinet lessons since 2013 and I love being able to share my passion for the clarinet and music with my students. Currently, I am a Master Teacher on the faculty of Magnolia Music Studio RiverWalk. I have also taught at The Ohio State University's Clarinet Academy, teaching private lessons, coaching student chamber ensembles, and presenting a lecture on reed break-in and adjustment. As a Graduate Teaching Associate at The Ohio State University, I taught undergraduate clarinet lessons, gave masterclasses for undergraduate and master's students, instructed the clarinet portion of the Woodwind Methods course for music education majors, conducted clarinet sectionals for the OSU University Band, coached undergraduate chamber ensembles, and assisted with OSU Clarinet Choir rehearsals. My methods are not unusual, although I am a bit. Based on the the students experience and ability, or lack thereof, I'll make suggestions about what music to get. Often they already have music that will work, to which I will add developemental studies of various sorts. For example, I like Bartok's Mikrocosmos which he wrote to teach is nine year old son to play piano. Many things can be learned with no book at all, but reading music is also important. Read More

I have been teaching for thirty years and find it very rewarding. I like to use classical studies as a core for development and then bring in music of other genres for a diverse background. I also like to use music that the students are interested in. I believe it is important to be a literate musician as well as training to play by ear; to understand theory for improvising and to understand standard performing practice. Read More

I like to use a wide variety of materials, from classical to jazz music. CLARINET: For clarinet students, I use "standard" conservatory etude and scale books (such as the Rose Studies and Behrmann Studies). I also use the Jamey Abersold Jazz Methods, which feature CD 'play-a-long' recordings of jazz music. I also have my students perform a wide range of solo music, from 'standards' like the Mozart Clarinet Concerto to 20th century repertoire by composers like Bernstein, Copland and others. I think it is important for students to be able to play jazz and improvise, so I teach them about Blues and how to play jazz, as well as classical music. Read More
