To me as a musician, teaching is as important and as necessary to our art as performing, and it is always a joy to share that art with students. I graduated from Kent State University in 2015 with my Bachelor of Science in Music Education, followed by a Master of Music in Bassoon Performance in 2019, and recently completed an Artist Diploma from UC-CCM. Although a bassoonist primarily, I've performed with orchestras such as the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, and the Warren Philharmonic, as well as bands like the Akron Symphonic Winds, the Cleveland Winds, and the Packard Band. I use the Alfred Piano series for most of my piano students. Woodwind students will use either Rubank or Hal Leonard series of books. During the first lesson, I will clarify the student's goals and needs and choose a book accordingly. I also add finger warm-ups and breathing exercises. Students are encouraged to pick a song from their own choosing to learn as a "fun-song". I try to cover these three things in every lesson, however I am flexible to meet the goals of my students. My professional motto is that I will do "Whatever it takes" for my students to succeed. Read More

When I was 13 I started playing the electric guitar, and I would later switch to the classical guitar at 19. In college I learned some piano as well as bassoon in addition to the methods and materials classes that I had to take as a music education major. Read More

For a young adult or a prospective college student, I will generally focus on checking their embouchure, what their knowledge of major and minor scales are, how fluent they are reading sheet music, what reeds they should be playing on, and among things. We then move on to more advanced topics that would not be possible to cover in their band classes at their home school. Ideally, we would take a look back at our previously established goals, reevaluate them or set new ones. Read More
