In 1966 I graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, Il, where I been a full scholarship applied clarinet major. Earlier, I was a charter member of School Band of America-European concert tour. I was also the enlisted band leader for the Alabama Army National Guard Band, culminating with replacing the West Point band in New York and playing a concert at Rockefeller Center in New York City. I focus on a skills based learning regimen. I often start beginners out without using a book, just learning to make the instrument perform before we add the complexities of music notation to the mix. With more advanced students I work on the small details of mastering the instrument, and translate that into performance. I love kids and music and decided to combine the two. Piano lessons from fourth grade through high school furthered my love for instruments. I played flute and piccolo through high school and then graduated with my Bachelors of Instrumental Music Education from Troy in 2005.
