Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Previously, I have worked at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Pewee Valley, KY as a volunteer cantor, and St. Luke Korean Catholic Church in Birmingham, AL as a volunteer music director. While studying at the University of Louisville, I had the privilege to be part of the Cardinal Singers for six years and attended countless festivals and competitions. The ensemble performed at numerous conventions of the American Choral Directors Association, performing at the 2017 National Convention and 2016 Southern Division Convention, also performing at the National Collegiate Choral Organization in 2015 while I was in the group. Hi! My name is Jake K, and I am a clarinet, saxophone, and euphonium instructor. I am passionate about music in general, and I love helping students reach their highest potential. I'm a graduate of Morehead State University, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. I am a big fan of the Rubank elementary, intermediate, and advance methods. In addition I like incorporate sight reading into lessons due to being a common element in auditions. For high school students the I use Rubank books and supplement that with Rose etudes as they are often use as audition material in KY. Typically in the first lesson, I assess the playing level of the student by asking them general questions about what they have done with music so far. From there it is easy for me to determine what to begin teaching first. For beginner students, I like to start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements book. If the student has graduated from the beginner book, then I can proceed to intermediate or advanced methods which will include a combination of studies in pedagogy, repertoire, composers, etudes, ensemble work, and technical studies.
