I began my teaching experience in 2016, when I began work as a band camp instructor during my student teaching semester in college. Since then, I have served as a high school band director for three years before stepping away to pursue other musical opportunities. I am a big fan of the Rubank elementary, intermediate, and advance methods. In addition I like incorporate sight reading into lessons due to being a common element in auditions. For high school students the I use Rubank books and supplement that with Rose etudes as they are often use as audition material in KY. I personally believe in going as per the pace of the student. A progressive pace is important as well as a balance of not moving too quickly or too slowly for the students. Having fun learning music is also important to me. I like to encourage students to practice and I also implement ways to assist with making practice time more fun. The goal of music is for the student to enjoy what they are learning so that they will continue their lessons and look forward to lessons, not to feel high pressure and turn away from music altogether.
