I have been teaching for about 5 years, but have had incredible teaching oppurtunities in this small window of time. I often helped my college professor with her highschool students, andI had the oppurtunity to teach for a semester as an Adjunct at Central College in Pella, IA. After only a month of studying with me, my highschool student there advanced four chairs in the Iowa Allstates, and I see it as one of my greatest accomplishments as a teacher. Read More

Each student has their own motivations for learning the instrument, their own personal goals with the instrument and their own personalities. Music is such a personal, emotional and intimate form of expression, and while there are technical aspects of playing the cello that require a more analytical approach, I believe that students must remain true to themselves, to their respective motivations and to their individuality to discover their own sense of fulfillment and the joy of playing music. The key to it is finding that spark, or that thing that serves as the roots from which your musical knowledge grows. It can be a single piece, and genre of music, or even a rock band. I am a versatile multi-instrumentalist who loves to share the joys of music with students of all backgrounds, ages, and levels of experience. My career as a professional performing musician started even before I began my collegiate studies, as I began professional piano accompanying services while still in high school, and played in my first community orchestra before beginning my undergraduate studies.
