I am a caring and passionate cello teacher who loves working with students. I have completed my two years of Suzuki Pedagogy training from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and I am a certificated cello teacher by the American Suzuki Association. I am doing my DMA cello performance degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). I have many experiences on teaching all kinds of students. Learning isn't a photocopy process which means a lot of the learning process is a responsibility of the student. I view my job as a teacher is to 1) make sure the student isn't getting overwhelmed, 2) hold the student accountable for their learning, and 3) guiding students through experiences that will facilitate their learning. My goals as a teacher are to 1) bring students to the highest level of technical ability they are able to attain, and 2) develop in the student the highest level of musicianship possible through theory and ear training. My teaching style can best be described as adaptable. Every student can learn and every student is different. Some students need structure, some need to be encouraged and some just need someone to help them polish their skills. Whatever the case may be, it is my job to meet the student where they are and provide support that balances what they need and their personal goals. I have been teaching for over 15 years and I love watching students grow in their musical abilities. I get so excited when the passion comes out of them into their playing. I got my Bachelors in music performance on cello, but I started on piano and violin when I was six years old. For my teaching style, I have a very organic approach. The main goal as a teacher is to develop a passion for the instrument and the music. This is crucial for seeing any development at a decent pace in any student. What happens otherwise is that the student does not want to practice, or practicing without focus.
