I am originally from upstate New York and earned both my BM and MME at SUNY Fredonia. I have been teaching private and small group lessons for over twenty years. I also have extensive experience teaching ensemble music in public and private schools in Buffalo (NY), Houston, Madrid, Spain and Chicago. I have also worked as an Adjunct Professor at SUNY Fredonia, Roosevelt University, and Lake Forest College. I am committed to making an impact as a teaching artist, introducing people of all ages to the joy of playing the cello and finding a community in music. My Bachelor of Music Degree is from the Florida State University College of Music where I studied with Greg Sauer, served as Principal Cellist in the University Philharmonia, and performed with a number of other ensembles including for Doctoral Chamber Recitals (an invite-only opportunity usually reserved from graduate students), Polymorphia (dedicated to premiering and promoting works by living composers), Baroque Ensemble (where I performed on a traditional replica Baroque cello), and “Aziza” Middle Eastern Ensemble. I fell in love with my cello at age 12, when my mother brought it home as a birthday present. I competed in the NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) where I received 3 A+ grades, for my performance of Haydn's cello concerto #1 in D minor, Bach Suite #3, Boccherini cello concerto and Vivaldi sonata #3. My first teacher, Alexander Goldfield once said, "Music is just scales and chords". If nothing else, I practice my Cossman exercises at least 1-2 hours per days for agility and intonation. Read More
