I've been teaching for the last 12 years and over the course of that time I've taught hundreds and hundreds of students every age, skill level and interest. I've taught for studios, schools, music stores, In home, online you name it. After graduating from the musicians institute in 2007 its been one of my main gigs. I enjoy teaching music, and consider it my calling. Having started double bass in college, I began performing with the Fort Worth Symphony after studying two years. When in college in Florida, I served as Principal (first chair) Bass of the Greater Miami Opera, and the Fort Lauderdale Symphony. In graduate school in Michigan, I was Principal Bass of the Flint Symphony. Returning home to Dallas, I performed with the Dallas Symphony, and recorded over a dozen compact discs with the orchestra. I believe listening is the key to learning. I listen to my students to discover what techniques are working best for them and which are their weakest then adapt my lessons to their needs. I also try to teach students how to listen to music, hear the empty spaces in songs that really give them their polish, and how to listen for other individual instruments to understand whem to accompany instruments and when to give them their own space. My teaching stlye is somewhat versatile depending on the students own personality and individual needs. I believe that all students should be self-motivated, and if they are lacking in discpline and consistency, I help them get re-centered and rouse their enthusiasm again so that they can approach practice with enthusiasm and curiosity rather then appraoching like it is a chore. I feel that learning and playing music be, mostly, intrinsically rewarding because this is how the best results are achieved. Read More

I am a father of two young daughters who share my passion for all types of music (so far). I've had many credits on several studio albums ranging from hip hop to country, and most genres in between.
