Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

My methods vary student to student- we all learn differently and my objective is to find what works, wether it be a quick demonstration, or a complete breakdown right to the fundamentals. No student is too slow nor incapable. One of the things I really keep my eye on is technique- nothing is more detrimental to a student's progress than poor technique and adaptation! Staying true to traditional teaching is important to me, however each student learns at his/her own pace where one student may need a slower, more structured curriculum while another needs a more varied, advanced course of study. This revels itself quickly and I pride myself in my ability to diagnose one’s learning style, finding his/her specific need and applying various methods to address that need, from sight reading and transposing to finger placement and exercises. For young beginners, I generally will start with a beginning method book (such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements) but the book will depend on the instrument as well. For older students, I want to know what kind of music they enjoy playing or listen to, and guide them along to reach their goals--whether that be to play in a band, write and record an album, or just become a better player! I believe music lessons of any form should be all about what the student wants to accomplish, rather than a strict curriculum. Of course, there is a proper place for describing technique, scales, etc, but once a basic understanding is achieved I like to delve into a students specific passion. This may be music theory, composition, a specific style, a specific bass technique, or something entirely different. When the student is truly interested and truly wants to learn the subject matter, rather than perhaps running a repetitive drill, I find the student advances much faster. Read More
