My teaching philosophy follows the belief that musical understanding and maturity are easier to discuss once the student is able to execute a variety of technical details. I often say that technique is teaching a student how to make ten shades of blue, but musicality is deciding which shade of blue to use. My goal for each and every student is for them to become proficient enough on their instrument that they can enjoy it for the rest of their lives. I have been teaching private lessons for the last 6 years and began teaching in the public school system in spring of 2022. I took various courses in instrument methodology for brass, woodwind, and string instruments, and studied leading pedagogy practices from distinguished educators. I studied cello with PSO musician Adam Liu, and performed challenging works for solo cello in my studio as well as orchestral works with the full Duquesne Symphony Orchestra. Read More

I also encourage students to record their lessons. Once the student is ready we then work on a simple melody or song. Read More

I asked for violin lessons at age nine and never looked back. By the end of high school, had picked up the viola as well and even worked through a couple of flute method books. Read More
