For intermediate students I try to make it fun, according to their ages, may be throw some pop tunes here and there, or if they are more serious into classical then I would definitely enjoy the challenge of teaching relaxation techniques during difficult passages such as double stops, high positions, string crossings, etc. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Depending on students age and ability, I use different kind of methods. For students that are new to music I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, this book is really good to start to learn about music and the instrument, and then Suzuki method for repertoire. I teach a predominantly Suzuki as I learned with the Suzuki method and I am trained as a Suzuki instructor. I don't completely immerse my students with the Suzuki method and while learning how to play by ear, I teach students how to read music so that they are able to compose their own music. Read More

My teaching experience spans 6 years. I've taught all ages, so I'm comfortable with everybodys learning pace. In college I studied under the Latin Grammy award winning La Catrina Quartet, and I hope to pass down the knowledge I gain from that experience to my students. With my students, I take them step by step through were they are as a musician, to were they need to be. I only want my students to have a positive experience when leaving our lesson. I am constantly letting them know what they've done well, along with what goals we need to work on. I focus on the sandwich method, which is one positive trait, something to work on, then another positive trait. Everyone is different, so their learning pace is different as well. I do expect them to put at least some effort in at home via practicing (although I know things come up sometimes), otherwise it would be hard to find progress when they haven't practiced what we were working on.
