I've been teaching from as early as middle school. I had my first two bassoon students in middle school. Throughout high school I was a teachers assistant to my band and choir directors and frequently led sectionals, class activities or solo lessons. My teach experience began in my freshman year of college when I worked as a string/theory instructor at the Lake Country Conservatory of Music in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin where I worked with students of all ages and skill levels. I have worked as a private instructor for almost eight years now and have only grown to love it more with every lesson that I conduct. For beginners, I recommend the first two Suzuki books as they are a useful way of learning basic technique with a simple, song-by-song approach. For intermediate to advanced students, I utilize scales and etudes from Schradiek and Jacob Dont, and strongly recommend that they look into the six sonatas and partitas for solo violin by J.S. Bach. It is absolutely important for a professional musician to have good technique, including intonation, extreme agility with the right hand, and good tone production overall, and these are the three things which my methods focus on primarily.
