Hello everyone! I am a board certified music therapist, but have thoroughly enjoyed teaching since I was 18! I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor Degree in Music Therapy. I have since then gotten my Suzuki Training and am hoping to continue my passion for teaching here in the Asheville area. I enjoy gigging, and jamming with friends. I have had plenty of experience teaching both privately and in a classroom setting. I began teaching private lessons on the piano and violin in high school, where I mainly had elementary school beginners. In college, I continued to teach private lessons and also had plenty of opportunities to work with students of all different ages and skill levels in a variety of settings. I love being able to send students on their way for the day knowing that they put their best foot forward. Even if they did not come to a lesson prepared, being able to see growth in the small amount of time I'm with them is enough for me. I'm a classically trained violinist, with a Cajun Louisiana fiddling background. In the third grade, I began playing violin for orchestras in New Orleans, Louisiana and later had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the New Orleans Creative Center for the Arts. Adults are easier because they have a greater understanding of responsibilty and self control, however children learn these skills over time with propper guidance, and learning how to learn is a big part of my students' training.
