It is important that each student progress at their own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals and expectations. Acknowledging any and all accomplishments are key to fueling the students desire to learn more. My students can expect to receive homework and practice goals after each lesson. I want to find what inspires my students so I will always tailor my instruction to their wants and desires. During each lesson, we will start with warming up through scales and stretching and then moving to our practice goals for the week, through the practice goals we can determine what next weeks lesson should look like and what the student can focus on outside of their lesson. My teaching philosophy revolved around the idea that music should be fun and engaging. While many teachers start their students off by learning how to read music, I like to begin with actually playing and familiarizing yourself with the instrument and later translating that information to written music notation. In your first lesson, we will play the instrument and learn a simple tune based on your skill level. I like to take into account the students music preference and learn what specifically they want to get out of private lessons. Read More

There, I began teaching much younger students using mutli-sensory techniques to keep my students engaged and most importantly, having fun! The best part about being a teacher is watching my students grow as musicians and having their individual input on the music and what they want to learn. Read More

I've had the pleasure of helping and mentoring countless colleagues and fellow students through my career. I've learned through the years that there is no one single curriculum to rule them all. I tend to see them like The Pirate's Code...just a guideline. Musicians bring more than just their ability into the classroom; they also bring their personality! Likes, dislikes, family, favorite foods, favorite video games...they all contribute to the musician that they are, or aspire to be. Read More

I use Suziki Violin Method, Bastian for piano. I have also been developing my own method, and it's dependant in the students agenda. I encourage the building of reperatore early on. I have also used Liytle Einstein piano method and varies products produced by Hal Leonard. I find the students goals are very formative to the approach I choose to take. Sole students are doing the study for sheer personal enjoyment others are more serious and want to make a career out kf mus8c as they mature. Read More
