I believe in a positive perspective on practicing: regular practice will greatly enhance a student's progress with lessons. Focusing on, and isolating, challenges, rather than practicing what has already been acquired, will help the student gain proficiency and fluency in his or her musical ability. Music is, in a sense, both a fine art, and a discipline. For that reason I teach both interpretation and technic. There are usually two reasons for taking private lessons. Either an individual has expressed an interest for the instrument or a parent wishes for their child to have a musical experience. Whichever the case may be, I see lessons as an opportunity to open a window into creativity and expression. Depending upon the age of the student, my approach is very different. I am a passionate instructor who enjoys working with students of all ages. I started performing, professionally, at a very young age, during my 6 years at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. From there, I attended the Louisiana State University, as a cello performance major and performed with the school symphony, as well as the Alexandria Symphony, the Lake Charles Symphony and local venues. I went on to get my Master's degree at Georgia State University and then returned to Louisiana State University for my final degree in Cello Performance. Read More

While in high school I taught students, played in several performing groups, and toured Europe with a youth orchestra composed of students from all over the United States.
