I began teaching privately as a high school student, working with begnning students at the middle school. I have taught privately in my home and in students' homes since graduating from college. Regular practice is very important and something I emphasize with my students. I like to include a mixture of classical and modern music in my lessons, so that students enjoy what they are learning and playing. I am a graduate of National Kiev Conservatory of Music with Master Degree in both Violin Performance and Music Education. After graduation from conservatory I worked full time in the State Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine for 10 years and then another 8 years in national Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater. Learning isn't a photocopy process which means a lot of the learning process is a responsibility of the student. I view my job as a teacher is to 1) make sure the student isn't getting overwhelmed, 2) hold the student accountable for their learning, and 3) guiding students through experiences that will facilitate their learning. My goals as a teacher are to 1) bring students to the highest level of technical ability they are able to attain, and 2) develop in the student the highest level of musicianship possible through theory and ear training.
