While I try to follow a mostly K12 standard structure to my private lessons at the end of the day I will be tailoring my instruction to my students wants and needs. I like to set attainable weekly goals with my students in regards to technique and style that will be implemented via exercises, scales and into our repertoire. For young beginning flute students, I typically work from Rubank's Elementary Method and supplement with my own exercises and additional pieces. After the first year or so, I supplement with technical exercises and the Melodious and Progressive Studies and move on to solos from a number of other books. For violin and viola students, I typically work from the Suzuki books and supplement with scales, shifting exercises, and etudes. I'm a passionate and caring music educator and I love inspiring those around me to feel comfortable harnessing their expressive energy and manifesting it into art in their lives, specifically music. I study Music Theory and Composition at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with strong foundations in music theory, improvisation, and intuitive integration of sound and imagination.
