I have been teaching in various circumstances since 2010. I began with teaching middle school jazz sectionals, moved to high school marching band groups, and now teach masterclasses as well as private lessons. I have had the opportunity of teaching elementary aged students with Baton Rouge, LA's Kids' Orchestra program, and have taught college aged students through teaching assistantships and private lessons. I started teaching trumpet lessons as a senior in high school, and continued on through college and into my professional playing career. I have taught students interested in the genres of jazz, classical, and modern music, and value all 3 genres equally. For beginning students I use essential elements and elementary cornet methods. As students progress to more intermediate level I begin introducing the Arbans, Clarke, and method books from Stamp and Schlossberg. These methods are a great gateway into advanced playing and contain methods for intermediate to advanced players. As students become more advanced I introduce more difficult method books and challenging solo and etude books such as Sachse, Charlier, Glantz and St.Jacome. Read More

I first began teaching as a student at CU Boulder, giving private lessons as a student job. Within a few years, however, teaching became a passion, and I have since made it my career.
