Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. In Middle school, I began tutoring classmates in mathematics and realized the importance of making the intangible, accessible and that not everyone will innately use the same approach, method, process or visualization to arrive at the solution. I believe that a strong foundation is essential for steady progress and confident performance. A comprehensive approach is my preference. Therefore, when I teach piano, I prefer Faber and Faber Piano Adventures paired with A Dozen a Day for added technique. Since many students in this school district are in band or orchestra, I usually use Essential Elements for Strings, Brass, and Woodwinds. I spend a reasonable amount of time preparing my students for our recitals and many of them join in the group songs, which have included "What a Wonderful World", "Happy", and currently "The Theme From Midnight Cowboy". I taught general music, choir, piano, and band in the public schools. I also worked in an after school youth orchestra, teaching woodwinds. Before that, I taught guitar to friends and some beginning students. I also helped my classmates who were learning guitar. I have mostly worked with beginners, and some more intermediate students.
