I started teaching private lessons in college and continued doing so after graduation. I like teaching private lessons because students learn valuable skills and techniques that will help in every aspect of a student's life. Students learn time management, dedication, and work ethic through taking private lessons and I love watching students grow throughout the process. I am a driven player who believes ardently in the practice of fundamentals and the accuracy of intonation. I auditioned for the U.S Army Band in 2004 and spent 10 years traveling with the group. During this time, I played venues all over the world, including Japan, Korea, Germany, and Iraq among others, and learned to play many different styles of music. My methods vary from student to student. I believe strongly in making sure students are learning what they want to learn and adapting to every students needs! One of the most rewarding expeiences in teaching for me is to see the look on a student's face when they "get it". What a thrill to instill a love of music and learning in a student. I set realistic goals and always give them something to work towards (recital, concert, etc). I listen to my students to discover what motivates them toward further learning.
