I have given piano lessons on and off as early as ten years ago when I was first starting my undergraduate studies. Through my time at Mansfield University, I studied piano and developed my skills to an advanced level. I meet each and every student at their own level, wherever that may be, and help them grow. Erik S.s teaching philosophy centers on building a strong musical foundation first, allowing students to develop confidence, technique, and musical understanding that will support them as they grow. For beginning brass students, Erik starts with the Hal Leonard Essential Elements series. This method helps students learn proper fundamentals such as tone production, reading music, rhythm, and ensemble awareness. As students progress to an intermediate level, they transition into additional method books that continue to strengthen technique and musical development. Read More

For beginning students on brass instruments, I like to use the Rubank Methods. Of course I emphasize the rudiments of each instrument and I incorporate technique into each piece they choose and each piece I choose. Read More

I started teaching private lessons in college and continued doing so after graduation. I like teaching private lessons because students learn valuable skills and techniques that will help in every aspect of a student's life. Students learn time management, dedication, and work ethic through taking private lessons and I love watching students grow throughout the process. As a music teacher, I have ample experience with students in grades 4-12. I have also prepared students for music school auditions, honors band festivals, and other festivals such as the Macy's Day Parade Great American Marching Band. Read More
