I like to start beginning students on Pearson's Standard of Excellence books and then broadening out to other methods after they get a good grasp of the basic elements of their instrument. I also believe for other students who are serious about what they are trying to do, it can make the difference between parents paying college tuition or my student receiving that money through a scholarship.
