Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Based on the concepts of psychologist Carol Dweck, I use teaching language that promotes a growth mindset in my students, a mindset that allows for creative risk-taking and the necessity of learning from mistakes. Learning a musical instrument should always be a very rewarding and satisfying experience. Therefore, I have a large variety of techniques in my musical bag of tricks to challenge all types of learners. During my 10 years as a full time band director, I have developed many musical "games", often based on Suzuki methods, to make learning fundamentals, scales, and repertoire much more enjoyable. Though I feel it is important that each student progress at a pace that it is comfortable for them, I expect each student to put forth the effort. The lesson should not be the only practicing that the student accomplishes during the week. It is important to practice daily. The lessons should be a place to show off your hard work. I stress slowing music down to assure the proper understanding of the rhythm and intonation of the music. Read More

I have been playing the piano for twelve years. I graduated from Stetson University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and from the University of Texas in El Paso (UTEP) with a Masters of Music in Piano Performance in 2022. I have performed in Italy, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas, on a solo level and collaboration.
