Overview:
Music (specifically drums) is my favorite thing in the world to do and be apart of. When I get to play drums, it just feels like I can express myself in ways I never thought possible. It almost feels like breathing for the first time. I knew music is all I ever wanted to do when I first started playing drums at 16. After that, I knew this would be the only thing for me. I graduated North Central University in 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Music. I am apart of a Band call We Are One and attend GateWay Assembly church where I am a Youth Leader and Part Time Staff. In my career, I've had the privilege of performing in giant convention centers, but also smaller youth rooms in churches. Whether its 13 or 13,000 people, I love playing music all the same. My passion is never based on where I'm doing something at, but what I'm doing it for.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience goes all the way back to college. I would do private lessons for people at church and also some required teaching lesson classes I took for my major. My biggest thing I emphasize with lessons is discovering and developing passion. If you're not passionate about something then you'll never fully invest yourself into something. My goal with every lesson is to develop that passion into something. To figure out how to make the next student better than where I'm currently at as a musician and even to spur me on to be better than where I'm at today.
METHODS USED
I take everything in steps with students no matter what the age. My biggest approach I take to lessons is figuring out what the student wants to learn. If someone comes to me wanting to dive deeper into the styles of bands like Rush, we might not focus much time on snare solos (for example) because thats not what the student is interested in learning. I'm not saying that snare solos are not important, but I've come to realize that people will work harder at the things they're PASSIONATE about learning and not just the things they "should" learn. It's my job as a teacher to develop that passion and involve the snare solos, the rudiments, and the more "grindy" things to learn, but not to take away from the students drive. In the end, for me, it's all about the student.
LESSON STYLE
I am highly practical in my lesson time with students. Most people want to learn an instrument in hopes of performing in front of people someday or to have the knowledge of that instrument in their arsenal for other musical endeavors. My goal is to make their goals a reality. One thing that was really instilled into me by my teacher was "raising your ceiling". Just because the music your playing is "easy" doesn't mean that should be the ONLY music your playing. My teacher would constantly challenge me with other difficult types of music that would make me better and, by result, make the things I wanted to play significantly easier. You always want to give yourself head room.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
