2014 - Featured on famous Nashville Singer/Songwriter R.J. Bracchitta's album "Free"
Overview:
I am an easy-going instructor who loves playing guitar, travel, and sports. I grew up just outside of New York City and developed a passion for music after countless hours spent jamming out in a 90's BMW convertible with my Dad. At the early age of 14 I was already a die hard fan of some the greatest artists of all time like Tom Petty, James Taylor, Tracy Chapman, Jackson Browne, John Mayer, Third Eye Blind, Coldplay, and Fleetwood Mac. I've been playing guitar and mastering their music ever since.
EXPERIENCE
I've been playing acoustic guitar for 10+ years, but unlike many of the classically-trained musicians on Musika, I am mostly self-taught! After taking lessons for a while I found that standard instruction was limiting my creativity and restricting me from playing music that inspired me. Instead, I spent hours in my room pouring over guitar literature, youtube videos, and a lot of trial-and-error. As a result, I developed my own unique style and an ability to teach music in a more fun and efficient way - with a focus on the art of music rather than the science. I've had the pleasure of jamming countless times with Nashville famous singer/songwriter R.J. Bracchitta and I've learned a lot from him as well.
METHODS USED
Every student is different, so I will always ask, "what are you goals for the guitar?" And then work form there. If you are just picking up the guitar and want to learn basic strumming chords or how to read chord charts - we'll start with proper finger placement and strum rhythm. If you're a little more advanced and want to learn how to play Fire & Rain by James Taylor - we can dive right in. Whether you are 10 or 80, beginner or advanced, I promise you two things with every lesson - you will learn (and retain!) something useful and we will have a lot of fun.
LESSON STYLE
I strive to cultivate a laid back atmosphere that is low pressure, yet learning intensive and exciting. At the start of each lessons I will ask, "what do you want to learn today" so we can establish a goal to work towards for the day. Each lessons will have a small goal that builds upon one another to a greater achievement - like learning a song and being able to play it for family and friends. I love working on whatever inspires the student, I will never try to make a student do something that they aren't enjoying. That was my experience with lessons and I try to stay away from that uptight, controlled environment.
