I've always believed that learning comes 50% from the teacher, and 50% from the student. I do teach through lesson books but I've always found that they're better used as a guide rather than the focus of every lesson. I like to give the students the freedom to learn what they want to learn. I have taken private lessons in the past but I am looking forward to being able to teach the thing that I love to do. For students who aren't members of an ensemble, I start with Essential Elements for beginners. Once they have a good grasp of the instrument, I will help them select fun and challenging pieces to learn to keep them engaged and progressing. For more experienced students, I act as a tutor, helping them polish their technique and tone quality while also introducing them to more advanced techniques as they become ready for them. Read More
