I love music, I love people, I love teaching music! I love sharing my passion for music and what I have learned over 25 years of playing and teaching private lessons. In 2002 I attained my Masters degree in saxophone performance from the University of Washington in Seattle. In 2004 I joined the Tiptons Sax Quartet and Drums and have been touring and performing internationally since. I am able to provide the materials with music notation and theory of both Classical and Jazz styles. Once I recognize the ability of each individual student I choose the path of development to everyone separately. I want my students to feel comfortable during lessons. After all, playing in front of someone can be scary! I strive to be warm and inviting while also providing direction and education. I put heave emphasis on the basics like scales (major and minor), circle of fifths, thirds and fifths, and sight reading. I always want to put the needs of the student first. I want to teach according to what they need or want and make sure they understand what they are doing and why they are doing it. I like to play along with the students because I want them to hear what more experienced players sound like too. I believe it's important to be able to play on your own as well, but I played with my private teachers and it helped me so much to hear them and then copy what they were doing. Read More
