Music is my gift. I am blessed with a natural ability which I have dedicated my life to learn, cultivate and nurture. To share this through teaching is rewarding. I teach students of all ages and levels. We have two recitals per year, which are unique and fun because of our wide variety of instruments and our group songs. I love helping people learn music. I honestly believe that anyone can play an instrument with some work and everyone has a song to share. In 2012, I graduated from the University of Hawaii with a Bachelors Degree in Music Business. I started a band my junior year of high school called Local Uprising and we have traveled the states, opened up for some of the biggest reggae acts like Steel Pulse, Alpha Blondy, JBoog and Stephen Marley, we had #1 songs on radio and got nominated last year for Reggae Breakout Artist of the Year. A lot of technical definition and mastery of emotional delivery. We also work on breathing, phrasing and song interpretation, song delivery and characterization. I push my students, but gently and with a lot of sound encouragement. Most of my students become obsessed with singing once they realize how good they sound when the proper techniques are applied. I approach teaching on a person to person level by getting to know and understand what is required of me. I create a program exclusively for each student that fits their comfort zone. I enjoy doing the videos they make for me to critique. So with the use of video sharing there is documentation so the student can refer back to them in the future. As I firmly believe in the power of music and singing, I like to create levels of success for the student that are individual and specific to that student. I know that each student progresses differently so after a lesson or two, we will create goals specific to that student.
