A relationship with music is a very personal thing. To some it is all about the competition while to others it is simply the joy of playing for one's self. It is my job as a teacher to help each student discover what it is they want to get out of their experience with music and then help to nurture that experience. To treat music like a sport and assume that all students have the same expectations is a mistake that is made all too often with our schools and is, regrettably, all too often the main reason why so many kids choose not to continue with music. I started teaching music classes in 1992. As a public school music teacher, I have taught students in grades 1-12. I taught concert band, jazz band, marching band, string orchestra, full orchestra, and general music. I have conducted a women's chorale and taught college as well. For 7 years, I trained music education students and supervised their teaching experiences. My main goal in my teaching style is to develop the passion for music in students, music helps them to analize and think, create and provide progress in their school activities and classes. I'm trying always to create a friendly atmosphere using an entry point to better explained a musical piece and its characteristics. I also motivate them reproducing videos and recordings of specific music styles, famous clarinet players. I found very productive to help them to associate musical ideas with colors, images, animals, movies and cartoons that develops imagination and creativity. Read More

My performance experience has taken me to many wonderful places--College bowl games and the NCAA Tournaments to international hotspots such as Bogota, Columbia and even as far away as China. I have also been fortunate enough to perform with musical icons such as Doc Severinson, Mariachi Cobre, Byron Stripling, John Fedchock, Bobby Shew, Five by Design, Club Swing, the Harry James Orchestra, Andre Williams, and notable groups such as the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, Phil Campo and the "Loose Change" Jazz band, the Salt Lake Alternative Jazz Orchestra, and many others.
