Whether it is to just relax at home after work, or school or perform solo piano at a coffee shop, or learn songs off of the internet or a method book of their preference, I encourage students to be patient, diligent and to never ever skip a day of practice. I have been teaching since college when I was 22. I have trained multiple band-mates from scratch. I continue my training on all my instruments and I am considering becoming a music professor at a university eventually and possibly. I have a history with several students from ages 4-28. For beginning students, I use the first Essential Element book to introduce the first instrument and theory concepts. Once students have progressed past this book, I use the Tune a Day series along with the accompanying scale book. This book introduces students to solo and duet pieces worthy of a recital performance.
