Sami brings over 13 years of musical experience to Musika students. Her musical journey has taken her from coast to coast from the oldest theatre in America, Walnut Street Theatre in historic Philadelphia, to the pursuit of a Vocal Performance/Independent Artist Degree at Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, CA. Her love of singing has given her the privilege to sing many different genres of music including musical theater, classical, rock, pop and metal. She has had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at the professional stadiums of the NY Mets, the Philadelphia Eagles and for the US Open at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in NY.
Sami has an innate ability to recognize her student’s strengths and weaknesses in their vocal abilities to help them achieve their full potential with the proper vocal technique. Her strong background in singing and acting professionally offers her students an edge when conquering stage performance skills. She encourages her students to recognize their gift, to be creative with their voices and challenges them artistically. Sami is passionate about sharing her experience and knowledge in all genres of music to inspire other artists.
Shorty after achieving a degree, I began teaching on the west coast in Simi Valley, California. I’ve taught all different ages from 5 year olds to late twenty’s. I love to teach my students the in’s and out’s of singing. When taking lessons with me you can expect to learn, music theory, simple keyboard training, correct posture and mic technique, proper warmups for your voice in particular, different styles of singing and the history behind them, and we will even work on expanding your range. I push my students to always practice and come prepared with questions and ideas on what they want to learn next.
When first meeting a student, I like to start by getting to know them. I usually ask a series of simple day to day questions along with some music related questions. Be prepared to answer some of the the following, “what is your favorite band/singer” and “why”, “what are your goals for our lessons together” , and “what instruments do you play or want to learn” . After getting to know the student on a first name basis, we will go through a basic warmup and posture review. Then, I like for the student to come with us song they would like to learn or a specific goal.
I personally like to keep a record of what my student likes during the beginning of our lessons together and see how things progress and change. I love to work one on one with a student to find their own style and voice. It’s important that the student gets time to express themselves in a way they don’t on a normal day. I’d like to push my students to practice and keep focusing on coming in with goals. I think my favorite part about teaching is learning from the student as well. It’s very inspiring to see a student progress and grow.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
