Overview:
Roger has 45 years of experience in drumming, from touring worldwide (over 100 countries) to recording on over 100 albums. With 28 years of international touring with numerous renowned artists, from ABBA to Zappa (Dweezil), with events in many out of the way places such as Russia (1980 Summer Olympic Games), Rome (with the invitation of Pope John Paul II), South Africa (Invitation by Nelson Mandela), Poland (working with Lech Valesa of Solidarity) and The White House (3 times, under 3 different Presidents). Also performed for royalty in various countries and even visited small villages in various African nations for inspiration and furthering his studies in rhythm.
EXPERIENCE
Roger's expertise is vast, from performing in major jazz and rock festivals to performing for the Pope and several Presidents, Kings and other royalties around the globe. As an educator and percussion facilitator Roger is always motivated to inspire and encourage aspiring drummers to grow and achieve on their own paths. Both private and classroom lessons are available. Performing clinics in stores and other facilities to promote a product, while working with many leading manufacturers in marketing and design is yet another outlet for his deep passion for drums and the drumming community. Roger proudly endorses and uses: TAYE Drums, Tycoon Percussion, Sabian Cymbals, Humes & Berg Cases, Gator Bags, Regal Tip Drumsticks, Aquarian Drum Heads, Rock 'n' Soc Drum Thrones, Rock-N-Roller Carts, Carvin Pro Sound, Audix Microphones, Bespeco Stands and Cables.
METHODS USED
The methods vary, depending on each student, utilizing many different books and teaching methods, all geared toward making each student successful in achieving their goals. I am always seeking other musician's with a similar global awareness and musical diversity and would love to hear from you! I am currently available to add a few more students and prefer coming to your home (or studio) and using the drums you're most comfortable with. I teach a method that will bring out the best in you and your style of playing but hopefully bring it to the next level.
LESSON STYLE
The style varies upon the age and level of each student but always aimed at getting the best individual result while making each lesson interesting and fun too! I have been teaching drums and percussion for 40 years and have always sought out students who have a focused desire to improve and an open mind to stretch beyond their predetermined concepts. By that I mean, being flexible with suggestions to improve your technique, playing styles and even the way your drums are set up, tuned and configured.
