Overview:
I have taught violin and piano for the past 25 years to students age 4 and up. At Rowan University, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education.   I have performed with Bridgeton Symphony, Rowan University Orchestra, Lansing Symphony in Michigan and the Goodnight string quartet.   My teachers have included Bertram Greenspan-Rowan University, I-Fu Wang-Michigan State University and Nancy Jan-Bay-Atlantic Symphony.  Currently, I play violin with the Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey. I enjoy performing in a string quartet for weddings and also chamber ensembles for various events in the area.
EXPERIENCE
I have enjoyed teaching violin and piano for over 25 years.  For younger students, beginning at age 4, I utilize Suzuki method which utilizes musical games that develop listening skills. As students progress, they learn note reading and develop proper violin technique through scale studies and bowing practice. Daily practice is important to attain proficiency and enjoyment of lessons. Classical as well as popular music is taught to all levels and are tailored to the individual student. A strong foundation in technique as well as theory is emphasized which enables students to progress quickly. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with students and hope to cultivate a life-long enjoyment and appreciation of music in them.
METHODS USED
My teaching methods include traditional and Suzuki technique with an emphasis on music theory.  Young students benefit from Suzuki technique using activities and games to foster learning.  For young beginners as well as adult, I start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and String Builder and scale studies. Lessons include classical as well as popular music and are tailored to the need of the individual student.  By instilling a strong foundation in string technique and music reading, students progress quickly and have fun!  An education in music is an important part of a holistic education for all ages.
LESSON STYLE
I enjoy sharing my knowledge with students and hope to cultivate a life-long enjoyment and appreciation of music.  Both classical and popular musical repertoire are taught. Seeing students develop and grow in their musical ability is very rewarding. Each lesson is divided into tuning, scales, review of assignment, and learning new piece of repertoire for the next week. Each student is unique, so patience and encouragement are necessary to ensure student meets with success. I enjoy sharing my love of music with others and watching them grow artistically as musicians.

Patricia is very quiet and always positive with the children. She has good exercises and she corrects very well. She plays piano and violin. It's practice if you have many children. She is always in time.

Miss Patty is absolutely wonderful. She is very patient and kind, and just an excellent violin and viola teacher. Both my daughters love her and are excited every week for their lessons with Miss Patty. They have learned so much and have grown to love classical music since they began their lessons. We love Miss Patty!!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
