Overview:
I'm a passionate music educator that loves teaching music to people of all ages not their musical background. In 2011 I graduated for Huston-Tillotson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. Peforming in various parts of the world has been a experience that I will cherish for a life time as a musician. The opportunity to sing at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN with musical legend Shirely Ceaser, Wyonna Judd gave me the encouragement I needed to pursue all aspects of music possible.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience dates back to my college days during my sophmore year giving private lesson to children in the surrounding community. I did not relaize the joy of teaching until one of my students performed. Currently two of my high school students have received scholarships for college towards their education. As a educator this is the proudest I ever been in having students major in music and receive scholarships. Being a music teacher gives me such job and I would not trade it for anything.
METHODS USED
For beginning students we work on the fundamentals of musics such as music theory, rhythmic notation, and techniques. Once the student has comprehend the fundamentals of music then I will introduce solo repertoire appropriate in preparation for a recital performance. In meeting with the adults we go over the goals to achieve and work towards them. I will try to find certain genres of music the student is interest in and focus the lesson of that particular genre. My overall goal is to develop great musicians.
LESSON STYLE
Music is essential to the soul and introduce individuals to a whole new world of creativity. Its important for student to have a stable foundation with the techniques and the overall feeling of music. I encourage every student to think outside of the box when it comes to music for it has its own expression and everyone has their own story to tell. Inspiration is key with anything we do in life and music can help grow an individual to inspire others. Music is a way to express who we are and without society would be lost.
