Overview:

I am a passionate instructor of voice and piano who also is a music director, accompanist, singer, and business owner. With over 10 years of experience in the music industry, I am full of musical knowledge and have a deep understand understanding of how to teach both voice and piano. My diverse musical background encompasses classical, musical theatre, pop, country, jazz, r&b, rock, church music and choral music. I received my Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance (with secondaries in piano and music composition) from Augusta University and am currently continuing my studies in pursuing my Master’s of Songwriting at Berklee College of Music. My teaching studio is equipped with a great keyboard, tons of sheet music, recording equipment, and technology to provide my students with the best possible learning experience. I offer personalized instruction tailored to each student's individual goals and skill level, emphasizing technique, music theory, improvisation, and performance practice. Through my innovative teaching methods and passion for teaching other people music, I have had the privilege of guiding countless students on their musical journey towards achieving their full potential as musicians.

EXPERIENCE

In my four years of experience as a private piano and voice instructor, I have honed my teaching methods to cater to the unique needs of each individual student. I have consistently taught students from home or at their home for 4 years. With a solid foundation in music theory, technique, and performance, I work diligently to cultivate a nurturing and supportive learning environment that fosters growth and creativity. I am adept at tailoring lessons to accommodate various learning styles and skill levels, instilling a sense of confidence and passion in my students as they progress on their musical journey. My deep love for teaching stems from witnessing the transformative power of music in the lives of not only my own students, but in the lives of those who love music and pursue music lessons; seeing people’s faces light up as they master a challenging piece or find their voice brings me immense joy and fulfillment. It is truly an honor to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for music with others, guiding them towards their full potential as musicians.

METHODS USED

For beginning piano students, I typically start with the Faber Piano Adventures books (while there have been a few times for individual students I used different books that worked better for their learning styles. For intermediate and advanced piano students, I pick one song (usually classical to teach technique), and they pick one song. I like to allow students to show me what they want to play, whether it is Taylor Swift or Beethoven. For vocal students who are beginners, I tend to let them bring in songs that they know well and assess from teaching those songs where to go from there with them. For intermediate and advanced vocal students (especially ones who are serious), I assign repertoire that is fitting for developing their technique as a singer. I am always open to them bringing songs to me, as well. I feel like in all songs, there is something that can be learned!

LESSON STYLE

My approach to teaching is deeply rooted in conveying love and passion for music to my students. I prioritize in creating a safe space and nurturing environment where students feel encouraged to explore and grow their musical abilities. I tailor my lessons to each student's individual learning style, interests, and goals in order to provide a personalized experience that fosters their musical development. Through patience, encouragement, and constructive feedback, I strive to empower my students to reach their full potential as musicians. My teaching philosophy is centered around fostering a deeper love for music by instilling confidence, creativity, and joy in each lesson. I believe that cultivating a positive and supportive relationship with my students is essential in helping them unlock their musical talents and achieve success on their musical journey.
