Overview:
I love music and I love teaching. I went to college to study Music and Theatre. After school, I toured the US and parts of the world for nine years in the vocal group Chapter 6. We were the youngest group ever to win the National Harmony Sweepstakes competition and the only group to ever win it and the International Championship of Collegiate A cappella. We have several award-winning recordings. I've spent the last eight years performing and arranging for the Showboat Branson Belle. I also spent two years teaching music to grades k-12.
EXPERIENCE
My father was a high school choir director and my mother was an elementary school teacher. So from a young age I was taught the value of learning, teaching, and music. Throughout my career as a touring musician, I would routinely give masterclasses at high schools and universities on group singing, performance, the changing voice, and the business of music. I have 17 years of diverse professional performance experience including solo work, small ensemble shows, and full scale symphony productions.
METHODS USED
Before I have a student sing or play a note, I always ask about their musical goals and why they are wanting to take lessons. It is of the utmost importance for me the instructor to understand as clearly as possible what the student is after. Otherwise, we may have different goals for the lessons and that will benefit no one in the end. Progress is paramount and it's also a promise. If the student has a sincere desire to learn, they will become a better musician. My ultimate goal is to grow the student both in their musical understanding and ability.
LESSON STYLE
I am a firm believer in the idea that not all people learn best in the same way. So I immediately try to understand each student and how they most effectively learn and retain information in the lesson. From there we set realistic goals and then accomplish them through a few key ways including practical work with their instrument and development of the musical ear. I have a respect for and employ the traditions of western music, but I also recognize that modern music is different both in how it is made and how it is heard.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
