Overview:
I was born in Brazil and from a young age, like many others, had shown an interest for music and singing. I've since then lived in several countries where I've further developed and honed my skills in singing, music theory and piano, as well as having the ability to speak Portuguese, Spanish, Korean and German. After attending an International School in Germany, where I would often perform as part of the School Choir and taking part in musicals, and taking private lessons with classically trained and professional German-Australian Soprano Mary-Jane Martin, I then moved to England where I attended the Academy of Contemporary Music majoring in Music Business and in Vocals and later on moved here, to Los Angeles, where I attended the Musicians Institute majoring in Vocal Performance. While attending the Musicians Insitute, I entered a K-pop Singing Competition and won second place, amongst other learning opportunities like singing back-ground vocals for a few of my colleagues and teaching singing. I've discovered a passion for teaching as I started learning more and more about the technical aspects of singing and how I would see that any and everyone can learn how to sing well if instructored to do so with the help of the right instructor.
EXPERIENCE
I've been learning how to sing and was part of choirs since I was 7. I have been trained in Speech Level Singing and in Bel Canto since I was 14 and have learned to blend in both technique and take the best of both worlds in my teaching. I'm relatively new to the teaching world but have been teaching singing for over a year and a half to various students, online and in person, where I also have learned to analyze and share the knowledge of vocals I possess with many younger passionate singers who strive to improve their vocal skills.
METHODS USED
Every single student learns differently and it's very important to adapt yourself to the specific student you're teaching. Personally, I'm a very logical person when it comes to singing, so being very specific and biological works with me the best. I have, however, noticed that many students learn better with imagery and visuals, where they're able to paint pictures in their heads of what the sound of their voice is supposed to be like and it clicks better with their brains. I believe it's good to start with the fundamentals of breathing and encouraging individuality. I also like to first learn about the student I'm teaching, their singing goals, their inspirations and their own special qualities, to further develop what's already there and to also awaken the many parts of their voices that are still undiscovered.
LESSON STYLE
I like to first, start from the basics, explaining to each student how the voice works and how their personal instrument actually works. Trying to let them know what their ranges are, their voice types, their specific habits, good and bad and what to fix and how to fix them. Setting goals is important for each lesson, where one should always come prepared with a recording device so that they can not only watch their progress as they go, but have something valuable to practice at home with every week that comes and always having target song to tackle and find strength in their own victories. I feel every student must have a passion for improving and I like to help them understand their own good qualities, as well as how to improve and how to be confident with their special gift.
